Escape from Captivity

Overview

A method for escaping enemy capture by feigning death or injury, then seizing an opportunity to capture enemy resources and flee.

Steps

  1. Feign injury or death: Pretend to be more severely wounded or dead than actual condition

  2. Observe surroundings: While appearing incapacitated, carefully observe guards, horses, weapons, and terrain

  3. Identify opportunity: Watch for moments when guards are distracted or a suitable target (horse, weapon) is nearby

  4. Act suddenly: Without warning, spring into action

    • Mount a nearby horse
    • Push off or disable any rider
    • Seize available weapons
  5. Flee immediately: Ride hard in the direction of safety

  6. Defend during pursuit: Use captured weapons to engage pursuers if necessary

  7. Reach friendly territory: Navigate back to allied forces or safe territory

Key Success Factors

  • Patience in waiting for the right moment
  • Convincing performance of injury
  • Quick, decisive action when opportunity arises
  • Ability to use enemy equipment

Expected Outcomes

  • Successful escape from captivity
  • Possible elimination of pursuers
  • Return to friendly forces

Verification

  • Confirm the feigned injury is convincing enough that guards have reduced their vigilance
  • Validate that an escape route and mount have been identified before committing to action
  • Check that friendly territory has been reached and pursuers are no longer a threat before standing down
